Tacora Resources is a mining company focused on the identification, extraction and processing of iron ore reserves and mineral resources.
It is the mining company responsible for the resumption of operations at the Scully Mine situated north of Wabush in Newfoundland and Labrador. The development plan seeks to maximize the value of the existing Scully Mine infrastructure.
The Scully Mine produces high-quality iron ore concentrate whose characteristics are sought after by iron metallurgists, the main users of iron ore.
In 2018, a long-term service contract was concluded between the SFP Pointe-Noire and Tacora Resources Inc. At that time, the SFP Pointe-Noire assumed responsibility for storing Tacora’s ore and maintaining and repairing its railway equipment.
Since the advent of the first shipments from Tacora in June 2019, the SFP Pointe-Noire has operated more than 240 trains, transhipped some 2 million tonnes of iron ore, and loaded more than 19 ships for this customer. (Updated: June 2020)
